ABOUT US

STAR DURABLE PADS began in April 2017, in response to an urgent need for menstrual hygiene materials for girls and women here in Uganda. Currently in Uganda there is inadequate access to knowledge on menstruation, as well as social stigmas which associate shame and secrecy with menstruation.

Lack of access to menstrual sanitation products has been linked with girls missing or dropping out of school, and women missing work, limiting their life choices and decision-making power. Lack of knowledge and accessibility to sanitary menstrual hygiene products can additionally lead women to using unsanitary alternatives. Improving the accessibility of menstrual hygiene products and empowering women to take control of their menstrual cycles is thus essential for achieving social equality.

We are a social enterprise, investing all profits made from the sale of our products into the continuing functioning of our business and in financing menstrual health education training and reusable pad sewing programmes. We work in partnership with our parental non-government organisation, Women Rights Initiative (WORI).

With years of experience helping women reach their potential, we have the expertise to thoroughly and efficiently serve our communities to ensure they’re never disappointed.

Whether you’re a one-time buyer or looking to buy in bulk, you can count on us to provide great products and excellent service, every step of the way.

OUR NON-PROFIT PARTNER

Women's Rights Initiative (WORI)

We partner with a local non-profit which has developed many initiatives in the Busoga district. Aiming to increase women's prosperity, WORI participate in implementing our quality training as part of their Menstrual Health Program. All of our profits go towards supporting the sustainability of this organization.

We love working with like-minded organisations!

OUR PAST AND PRESENT PARTNERS

INTERESTED IN PARTNERING?

We offer our re-usable sanitary pads at affordable cost for those institutions that intend to buy for their beneficiaries. For institutions that buy in bulk (at least 50 packs), we offer free menstrual hygiene training to one group of their beneficiaries.

We also are partnering with various institutions which are interested in WORI offering menstrual hygiene trainings to girls and boys in schools, or women in local communities in which they operate.
